It’s been quite chilly recently.

Even though it’s not Siberian-like climate, the wintertime has already given my skin a hard time. Do you also feel the difference? Has your skin become more sensitive and easily irritated, extremely dry or almost wet with sebum? By producing sebum, the skin protects itself against the loss of moisture. The winter isn’t a skin-friendly season of the year. Luckily, there are a couple of clever tips and lots of great products that let us take best care of the skin in winter. I’ll reveal all details today. Enjoy the read!

My wintertime skin care, or clever tricks

1. Air humidifier

It’s not a cosmetic but a brilliant way to fight dryness and keep skin moisturized. You will also see that humid air in your house makes you feel and sleep better. Just put a humidifier in your room or hang an old-school radiator humidifier. Also air the rooms before sleep. You and your skin will feel the difference.

2. Winter moisturizer

Which one’s best? Obviously, the one that protects against irritations, soothes skin in minus temperature and doesn’t let water escape. Your winter cream might be heavier than summer products since it’s richer in protective ingredients, slightly lubricates and leaves a shield on the skin’s surface.

My top winter face moisturizers are:

  • OLAY REGENERIST MICRO-SCULPTING CREAM
  • AVENE COLD CREAM
  • CAUDALIE RESVERATROL LIFT FACE LIFTING SOFT CREAM
  • CLINIQUE MOISTURE SURGE 72-HOUR AUTO-REPLENISHING HYDRATOR
  • DRUNK ELEPHANT LALA RETRO WHIPPED CREAM

A protective baby cream is a good choice too. If you’ve got one, smooth it over the face before going out. Such products are budget and made of brilliant ingredients since they must be suitable for infant’s skin.

3. Facial serum

I’ve got two favorites for the wintertime. I use vitamin C serum in the PM but during the day my skin needs stronger enhancement to be secured from the wind and coldness. That is why I add natural oils to my daily care. Argan oil is my top choice but ultra-delicate sweet almond oil works amazing too. I put them on face skin as well as all over the body, including hands and feet, plus delicate skin under the eyes.

My favorite wintertime serums include:

  • Sesderma C-Vit Serum
  • Nanoil Argan Oil
  • Nanoil Almond Oil
  • The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%
4. A mild scrub

The excess of sebum as well as extremely dry, dead skin cells must be exfoliated. It must be done in a clever and non-invasive way, that is without rubbing the skin harshly. I treat my skin with a quality, enzyme scrub. I know that many people use serum with exfoliating acids but I don’t feel like giving up on my vitamin C serum. I prefer traditional ways, using scrubs. Which ones exactly?

Scrubs I love to use in winter:

  • SKIN79 Peel Free Grain Mild Peeling Gel for all skin types
  • Planeta Organica Face Gel for all skin types
  • MIZON Apple Smoothie Peeling Gel
  • Holika Holika Enzyme Egg Peeling Gel

Following these four steps lets me protect my skin and nourish it in the icy-cold season of the year. What about you? How do you guard the skin from being weathered? What are your day-to-day skin care choices in winter?
