Hey <3

I keep receiving quite a number of messages from you concerning my techniques of applying color cosmetics. I’m flattered that you like my makeup. That inspired me to write a post about the makeup techniques that help your eyes look bigger than they normally are. I assume that it might not be so obvious but my eyes are fairly small. The effect that you see in my pictures is owed to color cosmetics that I apply properly.

Let me invite you to read my guide to getting bigger eyes!

MY FIRST STEPS WITH MAKEUP

My adventure with makeup began rather accidentally. While browsing the net, I came across a girl giving her lecture on applying color cosmetics. She caught my interest and was so funny that I decided to follow her pieces of advice. In general, my mum didn’t use much makeup therefore I didn’t have anyone to sneak colour cosmetics from.

It took me a few years to work out my own style and start doing it right. When I reach back with my memory to my first makeup then… then I don’t want to think about it at all. What matters is that now I apply makeup way better! I don’t want to brag about it but when it comes to using makeup tricks to help my eyes look bigger, then I must admit that I’m something of a master myself. I’m pretty good at it.

WHAT DO I USE TO APPLY MAKEUP?

When I grew out from the colour madness and when I was over this euphoric trance that each new makeup product used to generate in me, I finally grew into minimalism.

Now, my makeup bag contains:

  • BB cream – to even out my skin tone;
  • eye concealer – to reduce dark circles under the eyes;
  • one eye shadow palette (with a reasonable combination of light and dark shadows, matte and glitter shadows);
  • two eye pencils (black and white) – to draw lines;
  • mascara – to define my lashes and make them look prettier;
  • brow pomade – because on-fleek brows do make a difference;
  • universal highlighter – to contour subtly my face.

I’m aware that at first glimpse this might seem to be quite a lot, but none of the items enumerated above is coincidental. Such set of color cosmetics allows me to do light and natural-looking makeup as well as heavy makeup that I want to wear for some big event. You know what, just compare my list of essentials with yours. I’m sure that you will notice that mine isn’t any longer than yours.

HOW TO HELP YOUR EYES LOOK BIGGER WITH MAKEUP?

If you have small, rather narrow and barely-there eyes, you don’t have to get any plastic surgery performed – trust me. You should be totally fine with following the right makeup tricks that will help you enhance your eyes. A little lie for the good of your looks!

If you want to make your eyes look bigger, you can give a try to the following pieces of advice.

  1. Darker in the outside, lighter in the inside – I guess, this is the simplest technique of getting your eyes look bigger. By applying lighter shadow in the inner corner of the eye and by highlighting this part of eye (stretch this shade to 1/3 eye length), and by darkening the outer corner, you will create the impression of wide-open eye which translates into defined look.
  2. Light eye pencil on the water line – another makeup trick that is worth testing depends on applying a white/nude eye pencil to waterline. In this way you make the white of the eye look brighter and healthier.
  3. Cat eye style – using an eyeliner to draw a line that resembles cat’s eye is another clever trick to give a try to. Start somewhere from 2/3 length of the eyelid and stretch the line outwards. Thanks to this your eyes will appear to be bigger and clearly defined.
  4. Don’t forget to put eye shadow to the lower eyelid – if you care for making your eyes look bigger, you must enhance the entire eye contour. Applying a small amount of eye shadow to the lower eyelids (again, start from the 2/3 of the lid outwards, just like you did it with an eyeliner) and blending it well will define your eyes.
  5. Beautifully defined eyelashes and brows are essential – creating the impression of bigger-looking eyes with makeup doesn’t end at focusing the eyelids only. The final effect is also influenced by well-mascaraed lashes and enhanced brows. These two elements do make a difference, trust me.
  6. A little bit of a highlighter won’t do any harm – I’ve already told you that it’s a good thing to highlight the inner corner of the eyes, so let’s stick to this. However, it’s also beneficial to apply a highlighter right below the arch of the brow because this simple technique helps you achieve the effect of wide-open eyes.
